Entertaining since 2001...

Urban Entertaining began in 2001, from a small space in a warehouse on Church Street in Richmond, with a love of flowers, food, design and bringing people together.

At the time, Kim was working at Melbourne institution Lynch’s Restaurant, while building something of her own on the side. From her Richmond space, she created floral arrangements for restaurants, corporate events and weddings — juggling both worlds while laying the foundations for what would become Urban Entertaining. With a background in hospitality, visual merchandising and floral design, Kim had developed a natural eye for presentation and a curiosity about food. She was always asking chefs for their recipes and recreating them at home, bringing the same creativity and attention to detail from flowers into entertaining.

In 2003, as the business and family grew, Kim and her family moved to a larger home in Windsor — complete with a commercial kitchen. It was here that Georgia, now a long-time chef and friend, joined her. More than 20 years later, Georgia is still part of Urban Entertaining today. For Kim, entertaining was never simply about putting dinner on the table. She loved creating an entire experience for family and friends — the food, the flowers, the music, the table setting and all the details in between. Every gathering was an opportunity to make an occasion feel special and create moments worth remembering.

After 15 years in Windsor, Kim moved her home and business once again, this time to Armadale, where Urban Entertaining remains based today. More than two decades on, Kim’s approach to food, design and entertaining still defines Urban Entertaining today — creating food, spaces and experiences that bring people together, celebrate the occasions that matter and make them memorable.
